Found today on the wonderful ideas rich Elle Decoration blog: the beautiful paper art of Pauline Irvine of Artymiss. Says Elle Deco: “Pauline Irvine is the face behind the ‘cutting edge ‘ Artymiss stationery range. Artymiss teams great design with laser cut technology to create truly unique pieces. We instantly fell in love with these botanical artworks.”
These beautiful things can be seen and heard begging you to buy them at Design Indaba Expo, on this weekend at the CTICC in Cape Town.
I have a weakness for beautiful things made with paper. I’d love to make some myself. I think it must be quite therapeutic, all that folding and cutting, for those of us who aren’t laser inclined.
I’m also a big fan of Sarah Pratt, a brilliant Cape Town fine artist who works in all media but has a special passion for paper. When I was involved in the launch project for Midas Envirolite eco-wise paints, we asked Sarah to come up with some handmade art that would voice the spirit of this eco-leaning product. Sarah did a fearsome lot of cutting and folding. This tree full of blackbirds was one of my favourites.
