I saw Chocolat for the nth time recently, and I’m planning to see it again on 3 November at one of the food & film pairing nights at the Freeworld Design Centre, in association with Lindt.
Chocolat is Tina Bester’s favourite food movie. Juliette Binoche, as Vianne Rocher, is the world’s most delicious chocolatier. Everything about this movie is delicious. Her. Her cotton frocks and cardigans. The buildings. The interiors. The pretty music. Johnny Depp.
It’s a cool idea. Great films and incredible food together, at the very tasty Freeworld auditorium.
What happens is you get to catch an iconic food movie (Babette’s Feast, Tampopo etc.), and eat food to match the movie. The movies have all been chosen by South African epicurian A-listers. Jacques Erasmus of Hemelhuijs is the food king in command.
Jacques, will there be Lindt gravy on the lamb?
I’m just asking.
November the 3rd is my birthday. I’m planning to not be on diet on the 3rd.
What’s on the menu when? Check out the whole programme on the Freeworld Design Centre blog.
